This six-part series follows Terry Allen, Ed.D. in the elementary school setting, teaching the fundamentals of art. Viewers of all ages are encouraged to participate in the step-by-step process and discover the artist that lives within us all. EPISODE 1: Lines, Shapes and Colors

Dr. Terry Allen uses a work from Kandinsky to illustrate line and shape. Students then create their own work in a step-by-step process that emphasizes the importance of line, shape and color.

EPISODE 2: Color Values

Supply List
Dr. Allen uses Picasso’s “The Tragedy” to show how the artist used different values of a color to create a monochromatic (one-color) picture. Students then practice the techniques and share the results with classmates.

EPISODE 3: Positive and Negative Space

Dr. Allen blends character education, art, and language arts in a lesson that illustrates positive and negative space and different color schemes.  The students create a work of art for someone special in their lives.
