Silly Sentences
June 8 – Pinedale Elementary, Pinedale
Students stretch their vocabularies and combine their new words into sentences. Then, their muscles get a stretch as they learn the art of improvisation by acting out their sentences.

June 15 – Powers-Ginsburg, Fresno Powers-Ginsburg students create simple melodies using simple homemade instruments and learn to define basic musical terms.

Commercials
June 22 - Ronald Reagan Elementary, Chowchilla Students from Ronald Reagan Elementary learn the “persuasive argument” of commercials and how to present something in its most positive light.

Musical Fractions
June 29 – Robinson Elementary, Fresno Robinson Elementary students learn how fractions apply to music. Then they create and clap simple rhythms using their new skills.

What is Dance
July 6 – Lincoln Elementary, Fresno Lincoln Elementary students learn about two different types of movements: axial (moving but staying in one spot) and locomotor (moving from one place to another). Then they create their own dance patterns.

Round We Go
July 13 - Downtown Elementary, Bakersfield Students from Downtown Elementary in Bakersfield learn to create an ostinato (a short melody or pattern that is repeated throughout a song). Then they learn to sing in a round and make beautiful music!

Texture Dance
July 20 – Norseman Elementary, Fresno How would a big bumpy rock dance, if in fact it could? Hearing impaired students from Norsemen Elementary School use their imaginations to make up dance steps for items of various textures.

Movie Music
July 27 – Pine Ridge, Shaver Lake
Students from Pine Ridge in Shaver Lake listen to a movie score and learn how the music supports to action on then screen. Then they compose their own music for a TV show. |

Traditional and Cultural Dance
August 3 – Hazel M. Bailey School, Firebaugh Students from Hazel M. Bailey Elementary School in Firebaugh learn the meaning of the word “culture” and then learn three dances brought here from other countries.
